Tips for Beautiful Pregnancy Photos

Welcoming a new baby is one of the most exciting times in your life, and documenting your pregnancy with a professional maternity photoshoot is a beautiful way to preserve these precious memories. But one of the most common questions I get as a maternity photographer on Long Island is: When should I book my maternity session?

Here’s everything you need to know about timing, planning, and getting the most out of your pregnancy photoshoot on Long Island.

When to Book a Maternity Photographer

The best time to book your maternity photographer is early in your second trimester, around 12 to 20 weeks. This gives you time to secure your preferred date and plan for a wardrobe, location, and style that reflect your vision.  This also allows me time to purchase any backdrops or clothing if necessary!

Pro Tip: My calendar books up quickly, especially during the spring and fall seasons, so it’s best to reach out as early as possible!

When to Schedule Your Maternity Photoshoot

Most maternity sessions are scheduled between 28 and 34 weeks. By then, your belly has a beautiful round shape, and you’ll likely still feel comfortable enough to enjoy the experience. Every pregnancy is different, so we’ll work together to choose the timing that works best for you.  You want to be big enough, but still comfortable to move around.  However, if you decide last minute that you want to document this amazing time, and you are past 34 weeks, don't worry!  I often get last minute maternity bookings, and you will still look amazing!
